Planner/Buyer

Planner:
• Active participant in integrated product team to ensure product is shipped to customers per schedule, specifications and budget.
• Review Sales Orders and communicate any issues to Contracts.
• Maintain in-house lead times.
• Responsible for ordering all material to optimize inventory turns and material flow.
• Responsible for ordering, tracking and expediting parts from Sales Order release to shipment
• Establish material shortages.
• Initiate Material Requisitions for shortages and re-allocate existing residual inventory as necessary.
• Follow up with purchasing as necessary to verify material is progressing on schedule.
• Prioritize incoming material inspection through the Receiving Inspector Supervisor.
• Verify all materials are accepted through inspection.
• Initiate Production Releases and schedule productions daily flow.
• Review, approve and process drawing and specification changes.
• Maintain the Master Schedule and report activity daily.
• Review in-process data as necessary to insure correctness and completeness of all entries.
• Perform a complete final review of the final data packet including the test activity.
• Prepare the necessary paperwork for final buy-off of parts.
• Implement Danaher Material Process/Kanban tools to optimize flow of material and inventory levels.
• Assist in establishing program lead times during proposal preparation.
• Support Quality, Engineering and Auditors during site visits and audits.

Buyer:
• Develops and maintains competitive sources for materials, supplies and services. Coordinates source selection decisions with other company activities as required.
• Develops and maintains good supplier relations by adhering to high standards of business ethics and fair dealing.
• Obtains responsive quotations from suppliers who are qualified, capable, and willing to meet company requirements.
• Receives and evaluates proposals from potential suppliers. Develops negotiation plans, and with management approval, completes negotiations.
• Is consistent with technical requirements, delivery schedules and sound procurement principles.
• Expeditiously handles properly authorized emergency and rush procurements.
• Coordinates engineering, manufacturing and quality control requirements with suppliers.
• Documents procurement files to show that competent consideration has been given to all factors essential to effective and economical procurement.
• Monitors and provides vendor delivery status to ensure timely receipt of materials and supplies for company programs and requirements.
• Reviews contractual terms and conditions offered to and requested by suppliers to ensure Pacific Scientific’s best interests are protected.
• Performs clerical duties as required.
• Keeps abreast of the market, business cycles, scarcity, and surplus conditions.

Requirements:
• 5 -7 years related experience
• Scheduling and planning experience with a government contractor
• 2 or more years experience in a MRP environment
• APICS certification a plus.
