PSEMC produces a wide variety of explosive actuated Hot Gas Initiators (HGI).   These units produce various pressure outputs adapted to specific customer requirements and have an operating temperature range of -65° F to +200° F.     These units are activated from a detonation input signal from a Shielded Mild Detonating Cord (SMDC) assembly.

The detonation of the input SMDC deforms an integral bulkhead to drive a firing pin into a dual percussion primer cartridge. The primers ignite a pickup charge which in turn initiates the propellant charge. The combustion products provide the gas pressure to the hose configuration coupled to the out put port. The cartridges are qualified as separate items per MIL-D-21625 and the entire assembly to MIL-D-23610. Units of this type, such as the Explosive Actuated Hot Gas Initiators, are fully qualified for utilization on aircraft platforms such as the B-1B,
F-15 and F/A-18.
